abstract = "The state of Minas Gerais presents high occurence of deforestation
and forest fires what worries the locals about this enviromental
loss consequent from this factors. Among the brazilian watersheds
and the studies related to them, the watershed of the S{\~a}o
Francisco river presents great relevance to the research, mainly
by the high concentration of native vegetation still preserved in
this area. Concerned about the importance of this facts this study
has as an objective analyze the density of deforestation and
forest fires focus and their impacts on the Conservation Unities
located in the S{\~a}o Francisco watershed in Minas Gerais in the
years 2012 and 2011 using maps generated by a density estimator
called kernel and analyze the presence of relation between this
impacts in Conservation Units. Using the manipulation of data in
the ARCGIS 9.3 software two maps were generated: one about
deforestation and another about forest fires. Both maps were
classified in relation to their density, using the color scale
that is subdivided into five classes represented by the colors
dark green, light green, yellow, orange and red in wich the red
color represents bigger density of ocurrence of this events. The
results obtained show that there isn't any explicit relation
between the deforestation density and the hotspots. It was
demonstrated that there is a lower deforestation density inside
the Conservation Units over the hotspots, that presents higher
density.",
